TooJay's...It's Like A Deli, Only Way Better

The Scene
Located in Waterford Lakes Town Center, TooJay’s is conveniently located near UCF and in a shopping center with plenty do to when you are finished eating. It’s on the corner of the lot, which makes parking easy since it’s adjacent to another parking lot. TooJay’s looks nice and clean on both the outside and the inside. It has a sort of, “corporate cleanliness with home-style cooking” feel.
The Food
Straight off the bat, they have a large menu. Whether you are looking for light lunch along the lines of a salad, a sandwich or soup, they’ve got you covered; at the same time, TooJay’s offers a wide variety of hot dishes like meat loaf, chicken, hot sandwiches, brisket and a variety of other deli-style dishes. I wouldn’t go a far as to say the food is amazing, but it’s definitely above average and there is a large enough variety of food that a group shouldn’t disagree about eating here since they have everything. TooJay’s also has an equally extensive breakfast menu with everything being above average in quality with large portions.
In addition to a normal menu, TooJay’s also offers an impressive bakery selection of cakes, pies, cookies and many other items. Although the food is good but not amazing, the bakery is truly amazing. Their Triple Layer Chocolate Cake is out of this world, but should be shared between two people because it’s not only enormous, but also incredibly sweet. Taking some cookies to go is not a bad idea either.
The Track Record
Being that TooJay’s is a chain, it is quite consistent from location to location, sticking to their original recipes that have clearly proven successful over time. The food is always good and the portions are always large. I keep going back, and I suggest you do the same.
The Service
The service at TooJay’s is overall good, but it really depends on the waiter. There are times when the waiter or waitress just had to many tables and it was clear they couldn’t comfortably handle the all, and other times they will be so fast and friendly that you wouldn’t even care if your meal didn’t taste good.
The Price
TooJay’s is less expensive than most restaurants serving their same type of food. Typically, a sandwich with fried is around the $7 range, while the hot gourmet meals are closer to $8-9. The price is very good considering the quality, portion size and location. Breakfast is cheaper than lunch and dinner, comparatively, and tastes even better.
Overall Assessment
TooJay’s offers a great location, clean environment and good food. Although I recommend it a lot, it’s usually not my first choice; however, if anyone recommends it I would immediately agree to go. I am never let down, it’s cost-efficient and I can get some shopping done while I am in Waterford.
